“Sign this, please.”

A large card with an image of a bright yellow banana on the front was thrust under Lester’s nose.

“Connor, unless it has escaped your notice, mammoths can’t read.”

“That’s not the point. It’s his birthday and he needs a card.” Connor mouth quirked into something suspiciously close to a smirk. “We’re going to give him his presents in a minute.”

Lester sighed, signed the card and then bent down to pick up the enormous gift-wrapped toy ball hidden under his desk.

There was clearly no way he was going to get away with doing this anonymously.
