Title : A Watery Grave
Author : fredbassett
Fandom : Primeval
Rating : 12
Characters : A Critter
Disclaimer : Not mine no money made, don’t sue.
Spoilers : None
Warning : Character death
Summary : Written for Primeval100 Past Challenge 5, Forgotten
A/N :Inspired by Grave Secrets of Dinosaurs: Soft Tissues and Hard Science by Phillip Manning. Read it, it’s superb!

The young hadrosaur lost his footing for the final time in the dangerous waters.

He wasn’t the first to die here and he wouldn’t be the last. Half the herd had yet to cross and the water was still reacting to the heavy rainfall. The river would soon be flooding.

The body drifted down the river before finally coming to rest in the waterlogged sands.

Sediment rapidly covered the carcase, burying it and preserving it at the same time.

The dead creature was soon forgotten and for the next 65 million years, the body would know neither sunlight nor rain.

Great drabble!
But I read the characters wrong and thought it said Cutter! So I was a bit confused as to character-death.

*books eye test*

B. works with Phil - should I tell them they're inspiring fanfic? - B's stuff is all in chapter 12.

EDIT: Oh, and that's the Hadrosaur in my icon - though B tells me its running on all fours these days...

B. is endlessly amazed that the taxpayer is prepared to fork out for him doing this kind of stuff - doubly so now he's teamed up with Phil since he'd not had much opportunity to work with dinosaurs beforehand.

Oooh very interesting, both the drabble and the book. I watched a documentary on Dakota and did some research for a fic about Leonardo, another dinosaur mummy from Montana but I'd definitely love to read more.
Darn it I need to make a trip to the book store

Really? I didn't know that. I know someone did Rex, but he doesn't count. He's a character not a creature :D

Still it's cool.

Aw, this is lovely; I like the idea of a drabble from a different point of view to normal.
