Thanks to all my LJ Friends .........

............for helping keep me sane over the last two days. It would have been a hell of a lot harder without all your postings, comments and support, both on and off-line. Feel free to ignore my ramblings, which I'll put behind a cut so as not to fill up my f-list .....
One of my dogs died yesterday, which has left a huge doggie shaped hole in my life, (and Mr fb's as well). He became ill at the end of March and we nearly lost him then to severe pheumonia/lung infection etc, and the vets discovered a lung tumour. We thought we'd only have him a few days, but he managed four months, which he enjoyed, so that was what mattered. He 'd got increasing frail this week, but was still happy, but he collapsed yesterday afternoon, and we knew there was no way back from that. He was peaceful and we were with him so that was what mattered.
Looking after him for the last four months has meant we've both restricted outside activities a lot more than usual, hence my growing LJ and fic addiction, as that was something I could easily do in the house, from lap top while enjoying the dog's company. Our other one is missing him, and it's been a nightmare getting her to eat this morning, but we don't want our issues to affect her so lots of romps in the woods will be needed, I think.
It has been amazingly therapeutic to have such a wonderful group of LJ friends to post with and interact will, and I really can't tell you all what a difference it has made to have somewhere to escape to and take my mind off things. So thanks, guys, you've been great! If I can ever return the favour, you know where to find me!
Oh and to round off yesterday nicely, some sod seems to have used my credit card to book some airline flights, so that's now frozen, after an interminable wait on the most godawful phone line trying to find the "find me a real person before I go postal" option. Mr fb finally took over and pressed a seemingly random series of buttons which eventually got us somewhere after I'd keyed every bit of personal info asked for into the system numerically, including, as I reall, my shoe size!!!
So any spending sprees will have to be done by cash until replacement card arrives. memo to self, get a second card provider, just in case.
Anyway, now need to do some jobs in house, so I can then justify spending latter part of today slumped in chair with LJ fic.
And thanks again, guys.

Date: 2007-07-21 10:48 am (UTC)But LJ is an amazing place. People who don't know the internet say "But how can you call these people friends when you don't even know their names and you've never met them?" But I know what a support people have been to me in times of stress. And I hope I can repay some of that when it's needed.

Date: 2007-07-21 11:02 am (UTC)Have just spend last hour doing much needed tidy-the-pond things, and am now keeping other doggie out of the way while Mr fb mends a broken floorboard at the bottom of the stairs. OK it broken 8 years ago and we've been ignoring ever since, but hey, why hurry!
Will now find some fic to read ........ And thanks for the support.

Date: 2007-07-21 11:57 am (UTC)Animals are such a comfort and give such companionship, but the downside is that their lives are, in most cases, so much shorter than our own. Which brings about the inevitable loss. I'm glad your dog had those last months with you and could go peacefully in his own time.
ps: ummmm? You want to send that rain our way? We are still officially in drought, and we'll take it, even if it has been caused by those pesky extremists doing rain dances or blowing hot air to cause global warming! (Sigh, politicians are a scary species)

See previous post re rain and polititians!

hope the other dog does okay.
um...what sniping? clearly I missed something here. :)
you're welcome, and we'd be here for you even if there were no thanks left.
ps: may those punks burn in the hottest part of the 13th level of the oldest hell!
(if that helps any)

Date: 2007-07-21 01:30 pm (UTC)The sniping was the bit about the naked swimming with the “Good. Appreciate away from Nick.” comment, which sounds like a snipe shot to me! Sharp and well-directed :)
*sends e-thanks anyway*

Date: 2007-07-21 01:39 pm (UTC)sorry about the nightmare.
ah....I'd thought you were saying you had been sniping at people...which I simply could not believe.
*sends e-hugs of reassurance*

Date: 2007-07-21 03:57 pm (UTC)And it's always lovely talking to you!
Also, now I'm mad about your evil theft! Evil plane ticket buying (you'd think something less obvious maybe? Or at least something that people don't call up and confirm!)

Date: 2007-07-21 04:05 pm (UTC)THe credit card thing is a bit weird. There was an debit, then a credt for a similar amount, then another one. Kind of makes you wonder if it was an accident or an evil-plane-ticket-buying-fiend or what. Bt the card people say I won't be charged for it, so I suppose it'll work out ok, just will have to avoid any spending sprees until then or take Mr fb and get him to use his debit card!

Date: 2007-07-22 12:21 am (UTC)I hope things are going better with your other dog. I'm sure the walks will help all of you.
I heart my LJ friends! They can be better friends than some of my real life ones. If there's anything you need just let me know. :)

Date: 2007-07-22 10:42 am (UTC)And thanks ever so much :)

Date: 2007-07-22 11:19 am (UTC)And you should always, always feel free to use us lot as a de-stressing tool/punching bag/agony aunt etc. That is what we're here for, after all - to help, support, laugh with, and share with.
*sends sympathy*
Also, if you like, we could all band together and hunt down the idiot who stole your credit card details. Behold the wrath of LJ!

Date: 2007-07-22 01:06 pm (UTC)Yes, launching a card-theft-git hunt would be fun. You'd think as it was for booking a flight that they'd catch someone but I read somewhere recently that the police don't even do anything about credit-card theft. And I suppose there is always the possibility that it was just a wrongly attributed thingy, but again I doubt I'll ever know.
Like your user-pic, by the way. Where is it? And isn't it tomorrow that you're moving house? Let us all know how it goes! Will you still have email at home/work?

Date: 2007-07-22 05:23 pm (UTC)Icon is a view from halfway up Cader Idris (that may be spelt wrong!) in Snowdonia in Wales. And yes, I did climb up there. And no, I won't be doing it again!!!
Moving is happening on Wednesday, and job starts next Monday. I will have internet in my new flat, eventually. I'm anticipating severe LJ withdrawal symptoms while I try to sort it out!

Date: 2007-07-22 05:33 pm (UTC)Hhhmm, lack of internet could be hard. Access at work? But might cut down on some types of fic! *grins*

Date: 2007-07-22 07:40 pm (UTC)And that must be the craziest F1 race I've ever seen. I don't think even 'Puddle Duck Schummie' could have coped with that downpour.

Date: 2007-07-22 08:04 pm (UTC)I do think that McLaren should have been penalised for letting Alonso go like that in the pitlane. I've seen drive-thru's etc given for moves way less dodgy than that in the past. But the Alonzo/Massa scrap for the win was good. A fair pass that's for sure. And the car almost skating into the tractor was pretty crazy. Whiting should have red flagged it a lap earlier, I reckon!
And Mr fb spends half his life on an F1 forum so far as I can tell! Does yours?

Date: 2007-07-27 01:44 pm (UTC)*hugs you again* I would tell you about the bunny I had a few years ago, but it still makes me pretty sad! *gives chocolate dodos*

Date: 2007-07-27 02:21 pm (UTC)Yes, I'm afraid it always makes me sad when I think about previous pets. But there are always happy thoughts as well, and if you never shared your life with animals it would be a much poorer life, in my view, so we have to take the sad times when they come.

Date: 2007-07-27 03:00 pm (UTC)You are so totally absolutely right. I am thinking about getting a bunny again. Plot-Bunnies are just not as fluffy as the real thing ;P
